There's no better way to describe my relationship with KL, than "It has not been easy.."
I really thought we will be going our separate ways after one of our more than often arguments last night. I wasn't going in to compromise, and he was trying his best to convince me that all couples fight; even married ones.
Our relationship has been hitting the nail ever since I returned from my Hong Kong trip with my family members. I was supposed to be calling KL everyday from HK, but I never did. To top it off, I didn't manage to buy him anything from HK as well. What a mean girlfriend I was! Well, I knew the stuff we bought for everyone else would be too 'lowly' for him. Also, nothing seems to be suitable for him at Disneyland. Actually, it is no easy feat shopping for a gift for KL. So, I gave up doing it.
Our wedding plans are nowhere close to being planned.. I felt that KL was never really interested in having a proper wedding ceremony. All he wanted probably is a solemnization where we and our mothers come together to put our signatures on a piece of paper called marriage certificate. I don't mind not having a lavish wedding, but the least a girl should deserve is a wedding reception. There I am checking out venues, bridal packages and photographers; and KL goes "Too expensive.. You want to hold it in a hotel? Is the bridal shoot very important?" I stopped checking since.
I went from highly enthusiastic to I-don't-care-if-there's-a-wedding.. from size XXS to size M.. from chatting on the phone everyday to texting everyday. We drifted apart for sure. I even had second thoughts about marrying KL on a few occasions! He did not lose faith nor want to give up on us at any point.
This went on for almost 1 month, and each meet up ended with us being mad and sore over the other person. I was lost and don't know how to proceed any further. It takes a miracle for both of us to eventually agree to a compromise, and that arrangement cannot be any more perfect!
Whether we get to our future goals together or not, or whether the arrangement works; is no longer an uncertainty to me. I am certain that it takes more than just love to compromise, and I know this love is in the two of us.. strong enough to last a lifetime.
