Wise up or open your eyes and read this..

It was never my intention to use my blog as a channel to vent, rant and lament about my miserable life; or how evil some people may be. I only wanted a platform to share with everyone, how experiences has moulded me into a strong woman, how my life has enriched along the years, and most importantly, how and somehow things happened to me for a reason..

I hate to admit that I feel, think and behave like a sexist. I do not discriminate the 'other' gender, but I stereo-type them all the time. I basically have that mindset 'pre-programmed' into my little brain, that men are all bad things. If bad is a terrible term to use on them, then how about "they are creatures who will at some point, hurt a woman, be it phyiscally or emotionally."??

I bet everyone has heard way too many stories about husband's infidelity, husband's notorious gambling, drinking, or drugs habits, husband who is abusive, and husbands who CHEAT! There is absolutely no way (not even over my dead body!) that I can condone infidelity. 

No excuse is acceptable nor reasonable (included reasonable because some men made infidelity sounds so justifiable!) in the case of an adultery! Yes, adultery is the legal term in the event a married person gets involved in another love relationship with a 3rd person regardless if it is sexual as well. And this applies to both genders, not just the men..

It often dawned upon me that men get married for the various reasons :

- permanent sex partner (1 only so risk of STD/AIDS = zero)

- willing maid in replacement of naggy mom/sister who has cleared and washed your dishes and laundry all their lives

- co-payer for all living expenses, including the chips you snack on every other day, and do you know that petrol is a damn expensive oil??!! 

- listening ear who patiently lends her ears, shoulders (you'l be surprised) to a whiny, ambitious man who complains every single day of why a peer is promoted instead of him

- a subsitute to entertain his parents, family, and relatives (like as if we women never run out of conversation topics!)

- a coerced function partner.. If only she still have the figure to fit that body-hugging bandage dress (tell me after you experienced childbirth!); or the energy to slap on layers and layers of makeup so as not to embrrass the husband in that gala party!!! 

The above speak for themselves, don't they?! I am not one smart woman and I can come up with this list. So how dumb we women actually are; to know these and still fall straight into the trap! No, don't call us dumb; call us blind. How easy it is to be blinded by love, and believe that love is everything. That love can put everything in place, and fix things that have gone awry... If love can do all these, then someone should brew tonnes of love potion to save broken hearts in this world every single minute. 

Back to what I said about things happening for a reason. You just gotta trust it if you caught a stealing husband, red-handed or with sufficient evidence to believe he cheated. Don't give him the benefit of doubt, why need to? It only makes him think that he got a dumb wife and that his cheating will go undiscovered forever. He's so damn wrong.. Didn't he watch 'Gone Girl'?? 

Women out there, listen up. No one should ever mistreat you, especially if he is the one who vowed in front of the whole world he would never do so.. You are a beautiful being, and you deserve to be treated like a human.

Family Joy..

It's funny how we went from "How much does it cost to have a baby in a private hospital?", "We need to discuss & plan..", and "Who's going to be the main caregiver for the baby?" to "How come not pregnant?", "Scarly you pregnant?", and "Cannot travel if you are exprecting.."

Like any other new couples might be thinking, "Is it time to have a baby?" I say, WHY NOT??!! 

As most of you would have known, Rianne was an unexpected gift from God. It wasn't meant to be, but I've got her now and I never looked back since.. (Cross my heart, really! Hah!)  Sure, I may have complaints and super grumpy moments triggered by my sometimes ill-behaved princess; but she is undoubtedly a joy to have! I'm a 100% certain all parents say the same of their kid/s! 

Single children (based on my own observation only, and may not be the case for all) tend to be a little selfish and anti-social (though this isn't true of my only child) as they are not always with other kids unless they go to a full day childcare centre. They never have to share anything with anyone (unless the silly parents want a piece of the kids' cupcake topped with a butterfly motif!), and they have everything they ask for.. at least they get it 90% of the time! 

To me, the characteristics of a single child isn't the most desirable in the curent society. Well, if you don't mind your kiddo growing up to be self-centered and starting every sentence with "I want.", "For me..", "I like.."; then please stop reading from here.

Folks around us with or without kids tend to have certain expectations of behaviour from little people nowadays. Let's start with social manners. All adults are now thinking that children should be friendly in nature, and has to smile/greet every single older person whenever possible. My own kid used to be like that, until she got traumatised by the incident when she was chatting with not 1 but 4 weird uncles at a coffeeshop! Hello, potential pedofile material I reckon of these uncles lah!!! Rianne got reprimanded by me after that time, and she now no longer allow herself to be exposed to such risks!! Hahaha.. Talk about being a friendly kid!! 

But still, I do believe that kids have to be responsive or at the very least, be respectful to family members; and you might not find this behaviour from a single child.

Now, sharing. This seems like an easy, no brainer thing to do. But this actually requires moral values to be instilled into the kid to have him/her see the big picture behind sharing. You can tell your child that good things are to be shared, and that you get joy from sharing. But where is that joy if the child has got no one to share things with? Unless "Mommy/Daddy wants one of my Frozen stickers?! Or a cheese-coated fish snack?!"

Lastly, and the most important reason to have more than 1 kid in the family, is to delimit your child's need for attention or companionship which you have been providing for years. You want to sink yourself into that couch, watch some silly telly, have an ice cold beer and dipping your hand into that huge party pack of unhealthy deep fried potato chips!! This is only possible when your children are in the kiddy room next door, building majestic towers/ships/motor vehicles with Lego pieces and taking turn to wear that icy blue Elsa dress and sing "Let It Go" to each other.. Playing by themselves and leaving mommy & daddy alone!!! Oh joy... :)

Happy in-laws!!

I always say I'm lucky, to have in-laws who are very nice folks..

My mother in-law (MIL) isn't one of those nightmare MILs you hear all the time from suffering daughter in-laws. Neither is she a super MIL who takes care of everything in your house, including babysitting your kids, if you happen to stay with her. My MIL is just plain nice. She's nice to me, Rianne and even my family..

She buys things on her trips for me, my mom & Rianne; but not for her son - my husband. Hahaha.. I think she regards me as her second daughter as whatever she buys for her daughter (my sister in-law), she buys another of the same for me too. Not only this, she also like to share good things with my family; like when she has good 'lobang' of a cheap, cheap hotel or chalet stay.

KL's brother managed to book a chalet for a few days recently as part of his staff benefits. The first few days were just KL's family and his sister's in-laws. My MIL actually extended the invite to my sister & my mom to come over to stay for 1 night. My sister, her husband & kids came by and we had a BBQ, swimming at the pool and had such a great time! 

Just on Saturday, we went for a staycation at the luxurious hotel which my MIL works at. It is also the same hotel where KL went down on his knees and asked for my hand in 2012. 

My MIL had the biggest discount for the hotel rooms, and she had booked 2 rooms for a 1 night stay over the weekend. Knowing how my niece and nephews enjoy swimming, my MIL asked me to invite my sister again! 

My non-selfish MIL also asked my mom to stay for the night in the room which KL, me, Rianne & my MIL was staying. Seems weird to have so many people sleeping in one room, and especially when 2 of them are our mothers!! But it was all great! We had a good, good time. So did the kids albeit that little accident where KL's 1 year old niece hit her head, else all is good!

I even heard the 2 mothers sharing receipes and exchanging pointers in cooking..

Honey Spain!!

Finally.. We have not only embarked on our honeymoon planning, but more than half of the trip booked!! 

Before I go any further, please allow me to announce the destination for our honeymoon. (Can I get some drums rolling please???) We are going to visit S-P-A-I-N!!

Spain has always been one of my dream countries to visit, amongst many others. The vibrant city and culture is most known of Spain. Of course, not forgetting the delectable Spainish cuisine. 

You can imagine how over the moon I was when KL told me that we will be going to Spain instead of Greece! The latter was his choice at the beginning. I was secretly pondering what made KL changed his mind, and I have reason to believe that he was drawn to Spain because of the local signature dish - paella! He loves it, and me, i'm crazy over churros!

So, with this, we decided on the period we are going, and for how long we will go for. KL was a little upset that we couldn't do a longer trip because I don't have a lot of leave left for this year. But hello, the longer I am away from work; the more work emails I need to clear upon my return! And my colleagues may not be as excited as me if I were to be away for too long. 

The honeymoon will be from 1 October to 19 October, a total of 18 days as we are physically out of Spain by the afternoon of 18 October. This will be the 2nd longest holiday I have ever taken, with the 1st being the UK one of course. 

I'm glad KL took on the initiative to research & book our flights. Impulsive it may seem to take the flight promotion from Qatar Airways, but the flight times were actually very ideal. 

We had compromised that we will do a few cities in just 1 country, instead of travelling across a few countries within close proximity. This would be more cost saving and still get to see as many things as we want! 

Well, the itinerary (close to being finalized) was like a 90% done by KL. I basically just had to nod my head in agreement to the cities he found to be most promising of tourism interest. In total, 6 cities were to be visited including Spain's captial city, Madrid and the must-see Barcelona! 

With 6 places to go, accomodation would be a killer! We can't spend all our money paying for expensive hotels with facilities which we don't even have time to utilize. Thank God for Airbnb! The most wonderful place to find accomodation all around the globe, without burning a hole in your pocket. 

The only thing you need to have when booking at Airbnb is trust. Trust that the apartment/house/igloo (yes, even that!) turns out to be the same as how it looks in the pictures on the website. Trust all the reviews from people who have stayed, or claimed so, in the place you are interested in. Build up the trust between you & the apartment owner with frequent communication. With all of the above, we went ahead to secure 6 apartments in 6 cities of Spain! 

Now, luggage packing needs to be started; and packing for a 19 days trip isn't gonna be easy.. So, should I bring more than a pair of shoes plus sandals? Should I bring exactly 19 sets of clothes? How about accessories, undies, bags??!! Arghhhhhhh, wish me luck..

World Cup fever

Yoz, guys!! i'm right here awake at 5 in the morning, not due to insomnia (luckily!)  but a World Cup fever that I am 'suffering' happily from..

It is the 2nd semi final tonight, with Netherlands playing against Argentina in the Brazilian land.

The Cup started with lots of disappointing performance by the hugely supported teams like Spain, England, Portugal, and Italy. None of them made it to the Quarter Finals. The whole world was spectulating that it was a year for the underdogs, when countries like Belgium, Costa Rica and Colombia advanced to the final 8 for their first time in the World Cup history! 

Well, my night (morning) ended sensationally with an emotional win for Argentina against Germany by a 4-2 penalty result.. I did not expect myself to be swarmed by such a wave of emotions as the Argentinans scored each of their 4 penalty kicks! I believe it was because of the dream that Lionel Messi has, to win the World Cup title for Argentina finally 24 years later!!

Dreams do come true, and I hope it does for Messi.. :)

Suay to the max!!

Ok, this is now not new since I already wrote 1 post previously with a dialect subject.

I am declaring that it is without a doubt that life has thrown a thousand and one challenges to me. Whether are these His plans for me, or I'm just plain unlucky (this is the official English term); it is hard to say. However, I am pretty sure that the whole world is panicking for me with just less than a week to the 2nd most important day of my life (Needless to say, the first being the day when Rianne was born!); n hear this, painfully sick!!!

It's not very fair to blame a young kid when you fall ill since adults should have better immunity than the little people. But, I am very certain that it is Rianne who has passed the virus to me! I am coughing in her footsteps, and have a nose runny like the tap! To think my husband-to-be can still joke about it. In his own words, "Nev'mind, you can be a coughing bride.." I'd be better off dead I think!

What now? Prayers? Medication? Miracle? Which exactly do I need? No cracking of brains required - I NEED ALL!! Please, please, let me be a bride who can say her wedding vow and thank yous in my best condition. 

AMEN!

Awful phase 2

If you can still remember, the most horrible looking me have to be the post child-birth moi.. Without a proper shower & unwashed hair for 5 days straight in a row, that has to be the grossiest thing a girl can ever do to herself! 

I'm not repeating this (phew!), but somehow, the me now feels as awful as back then; minus the smell! The facial complexion is at one of its worst ever, the hair while waiting for its snail-like growth has churned grey hair in the opposite speed! And may I reiterate, I am a B-T-B!!! How depressing this is!!!!!

The hardly lucky me, was desperate with time at my back, and no fortune so to speak (we were saving freaking hard for the wedding!! ) to spend on luxurious or technology breaking treatments. I had reached out to a very good friend who always have problematic complexion, and she referred me to an aesthetic doctor whom she said was good and inexpensive. 

There, I went, with huge hopes that my blemished face will look smooth and flawless after seeking treatment from the doctor. I was agreeable to everything since I was already desperate to the verge. The IPL treatment was the recommended solution. I have my taste of an IPL years back at the beauty salon I used to patronize. I had freaked out back then, on not only the process but also the results! But somehow, I was convinced that the IPL administered by the aesthetic doctor is different and quick, effective results are what I will get. 

The IPL was no less scary than what I had done before. In fact, I was so tensed that I could feel each light hit (like a rubberband snapping) with double impact on my face! It was painful, and it left a charred smell on my face. The whole process went on for about 10 mins, and before I know it, it was over and I was handing out 312 bucks for the entire session.

Conclusion: The effect was not as visible as the doctor and his nurses claimed. It gave me heart pain (over 300 hundred dollars for 1 time!!), face pain (I was weeping as the light rays hit my face each time!) and every blemish is still there! 

Of course, KL gave me a piece of his mind when he found out about the IPL. Later I found out that you wouldn't see results only until at least 5 treatments are completed. Also, the most awakening fact I learnt about IPL is, it actually thins your skin! 

Well, I decided, I am taking a step back and let my skin just be how it wants to be on my wedding day. Maybe I would look beautiful instead? But before you & I make that comparsion, you need to see my current state first..
