This has been the most annoy-able and irritatable me so far.. It's the first time someone called me a scary mama, and that someone is actually my boss!
My temper has got from bad to worse, and my mood swings from 'tree to tree' in just minutes! I cannot tolerate ignorance, cannot accept a load of crap, cannot comprehend when people shirk responsibility, cannot take criticism and disrespect.. in other words, I cannot phantom bad stuff!
I wonder does the problem lies with me, or that reality now just sings a different tune with me?
Was in a 2hrs appraisal session in my boss's room, and got feedback like I have been snappy, and scary to work with! She commented that my emotions were ruling over my senses, making me tempermental and not being able to handle certain situations wisely. Honestly, having worked for my boss more than a year, this is the first time she had said words this harsh to me. She was worried that I might not be able to take things in stride, and she even thought I was crying at a point when my heartburn was acting on me!
Well, the feeling was indeed unbearable and I never thought myself to be so.. However, can anyone truly understand what I am going through now? Carrying a big stomach and trying to walk with swollen calves and feet is not all, I still have to endure the itch on my stommie and wearing tight brasserie because my mum keep stopping me to get extensions (she said she has lots of those, but she never gave me!) to widen my existing undergarments! Not forgetting the terrible heartburns I get after every meal, making it difficult to even have a good night's sleep.
Then, there is my cousin who has been nothing but rude and mean to me. My brother who is nothing but a lazy troublemaker. My mum who is full of nothing but stubborness and unreasonableness, and lastly Junior's dad whom I have my greatest sympathy for; but that doesn't mean he can go on and demand lots from me. Gosh, I hate to whine and cry; but why can't anyone be nicer to me?
I am not in my best state now, having to run to the loo so many times a day and Junior 'adding fuel to the flames' being so active. I went to the hospital yesterday and had the admission for Junior's delivery done in advance. The fees were briefed to me, and it wasn't a meagre sum if you want to know. The initial payment upon admission will cost me $1000, and the estimated delivery charges is more than $2000! After that I went on and enquire about the birth registration for Junior. Unfortunately if I am not married and my baby were to take her daddy's family name, both parents will need to go down to the Immigration Board in person and register Junior's name.
Everyone seems to be giving me that look when they hear that I am not married.. Are they feeling injustice for me, or for my unborn? Honestly, I don't know who's having it harder; me or Junior? But at this time, I can only say finances is the one thing a baby wouldn't need to worry about.. and did I even mention responsibilities?
This is a story of how I am transforming from the ever-so-fun loving Regina Baby, to Mama R.. and the life account of the most important being - little Junior.

The least expected..
The 3rd day of Chinese New Year.. and the least expected happened..
Mummy returned to work just after 2 days of New Year's celebration, and I know, I really know how tedious it had been for her this New Year.. tidying up the house, and cooking sumptuous meals for the whole family.
Me and my brother were the luckier ones, who get to sleep in today. But before we manage to enjoy the rest of the day, someone was knocking real hard at our door! The knocking was so loud that I practically was woken by it! Running to the door, 3 beefy and fierce-looking guys greeted me with flashes of their identity cards - The Police Warrant Cards.
It is my brother they are after, and I didn't even have to open the door to let them in.. they barged in! I knocked on my brother's door and when he opened, the officers went in and closed the door. I think they want me out of the conversation, or rather interrogation.
I couldn't do anything but just allowed my mind to roam and ponder what has my brother done this time? No answer came out of that few minutes of silence, and I wish someone could give me one soonest..
The mystery was revealed when my brother was all changed and looked like he's going somewhere. The police were bringing him away!! With a confused enough look on my face, I asked what's happening. The gangster-like (Yes, he look like a triad member, or not, even someone of a senior position in a triad!) officer told me that my brother is working for a loanshark and has been going around throwing paint over debtor's apartments. WHAT?! That, for sure, never crossed my mind! He could be drinking and getting into fights with people, but never did I think he would be bold enough to be a runner for loansharks.
I followed by asking if there is anything we need to do now, and the officer replied that they are bringing my brother to Ang Mo Kio Police Divison first and then to the CID HQ where further investigations will carry out. All this likely to take place over a whole week, and bail is rather impossible. Couldn't control my emotions anymore, I started sobbing and my brother tried to comfort me by saying we could visit him at the police station. The senior officer interrupted my brother's words by telling him not to give untrue knowledge to me, and that these days it isn't that easy to go in and out of a police station. There goes our hope of finding out more about this arrest.. it could be at least a week before we even see my brother.
The most heartbreaking thing one could ever witness, would be watching your loved one being arrested and handcuffed right in front of your eyes! And that, must unfortunately happened to me.. and we were even planning to go catch a movie today when my mum finishes work. I had promised him to go today, coz he had bugged me since New Year's Eve but we were all too exhausted by the spring cleaning. And my mum's birthday is next week.. Not that this has got any relevance to what happened, but I am just worried that my mum will get so depressed come her birthday, if my brother's still not home..
A young lad who had just turned 24 last December, got married and had a son within a year; might not sound like the most promising guy in Singapore. But it is not deniable that he still has such a long way ahead of him! Only in his 20s, and he shouldn't be spending time in and out of prison. How would his son think of such a father? How is my mum going to face the reality of losing her son, and me & my sister losing our one & only brother for at least 1 year to Changi Prison again??
It is so painful.. though no doubt my brother may have brought it upon himself, but who would wish to end up in such a state? No one, I believe..

A life so predestined..
It is the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Day, and here I have my post titled so, ermmmm, pessitimistic and resignant to fate.. what's wrong?!
No, it is not me who is ill-fated but the poor Papa D. News of him having a brain tumor at stage 4, and having left with nothing much time than just 6 months to 1 year; is just SHOCKING to hear!
Well, the NF disorder that he was born with, was exactly what developed the cancer. However, it seems like extremely unfair for someone to go away at the age of only 28.. but life is just predestined already, isn't it?
Many try to find solace with the Almighty, and say their prayers in hope of seeking a cure. Others just want to fight against the negative forces and to emerge as a winner in the end. Whichever option taken, I must say we all have to take our hats off and admire the being for owning all that courage and will to perserve!
There's nothing much an outsider can do to ease or stop any pain going through the one suffering, and that is just a fact. Be it how much care and sympathy friends and family may have for the sickly, it is still up to the fighting spirit the person has to help him/herself. You can't really ask an expecting mother to be there, comfort, and provide a 'resting' habour for the person right? Especially when this mama-to-be is getting more & more snappy as her pregnancy goes into the final trimester, her feet all swollen and painful as she walk, and her nose never been broader like this!
The Chinese has got this saying, "Every family has its own problems"; and it's only the family who can pull themselves up and out of the rut, and not anybody else. I don't ask for a better life of comfort and riches.. I only want to be happy each day, as I live my life to the fullest, being the best daughter to Annie Mummy; and the best mother to my precious Junior..

The first contractions!!
Honestly, if you ask me to describe, reminisce, or even re-enact what happened that night I first felt the contraction pain; I would yell my head off at you!!
It was horrible.. the contractions, I meant. There was no warning, no signs of them coming; and I started feeling weird already when I was at work. I thought it was the pulling and pushing back of the steel cabinets in the HR office, which kinda strained my stommie. Hence, I decided to call it a day and head home when it was time..
On the train, I had several abdominal cramps, but I brushed it off thinking it was Junior, as usual being activitiful. Until I alighted at Sembawang, the walk home was a terror! I had to drag my feet and try my best to stroll slowly, and pacing my breath systematically; like how the mid-wife at the antenatal class taught me.
I 'collapsed' onto the sofa the minute I reached home.. didn't even change. The next 4-5hrs afterwards kinda prepped me that childbirth is certainly a painful and no-fun event!
The first wave of contractions hit me hard, and I was literally squirming and leaning forward and up during the short rush of pain.. This went on, and then off at an interval of around 15-20mins each time. I was pretty sure that's the so-called contractions, however I wasn't certain it was the real stuff.. I can't be going into labour at only 7+mths of pregnancy, though my mum kept bringing up her experience bearing my brother at only 7mths pregnant.
The contractions went on and on, and I knew my torment was not going to stop until I rest myself in bed.. had messaged my friends and sister, asking them for some sound advice. All of them assured me that this might just be Braxton-Hicks, the false contractions before the actual labour. My sister on the other hand, was telling me to be prepared just in case. She even instructed me to check everytime I urinate, if my waterbag broke.
Feeling uneasy, I texted my boss and told her about my ordeal. Who knows, I might really be going into labour if the contractions carry on throughout the night. But luckily, they didn't. I felt no more contractions when my eyes were closed.. of course it could be because I was so much worn out by the earlier pain, and can't feel anything. But I was just counting my blessings when I woke up all fine and contraction-free the next morning.
Now that I had a taste of what's in store for me, I can only say "God, bless me!"

1 + 1 = 2 Mega Shopaholics
As promised, here is the 2nd part of my KL trip..
Remember the first post was called 'Time Not Enough'? It really is, those 4 days we spent in KL was hardly fruitful.. So, mummy and I decided to maximise whatever time we have before and after our flights at the 2 airports. Ermmm, apart from being distracted by the Harrods store for a while at KLIA, we bought some really unique durian delicacies like durian chips and durian pam pam.

When our plane landed in Changi Airport, me and mummy were clear on our directions. No, it's not directions to the Immigrations, but to the stretch of Duty Free Shops!!
We headed first to the Perfumes and Cosmetics shop, and how can anyone resist the great bargains that say '40% cheaper than city prices'?! We bought 2 travel size (30ml) of DKNY Be Delicious at $66.50, and a bigger bargain of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Lotus, 2 bottles for $32.50! According to mummy, she saw SK II Pitera Essence selling for $100; that's cheap isn't it?!
We continued walking and saw the big signboard outside GUCCI that spells S-A-L-E! I dragged mummy in and asked to look at the sale items.. Wow, the sale stuff are quite the current stuff. In fact, there is one which I had tried it on before, and my ex-boyfriend almost bought it for me. It is going for 35% lesser than the usual price, at $784! Hmmmm, if you ask any girl; I dare say they are definitely tempted just like both my mum and I. The bag was a classic design, and even my mum looked good carrying that on her shoulder!
There was another causal tote which I just have to mention, selling at an unbelievable cheap price!

The weekend tote @ $484!!
Pretending to be oblivious to a statement I made some months ago when I got my COACH bag; I paid for the 2 GUCCI bags feeling the least gulity. They were superb good buys, I thought to myself and how can I leave my sister out in this cheap extraganza?
She had wanted a branded bag for some time, and my bro-in-law is also agreeable to pay for the $484 tote. Hence, me and my mummy walked all the way back to the GUCCI shop and got another bag before rushing to the Immigrations to clear ourselves out of the arrival hall.
We had shopped for more than 1.5hr since our plane landed, and started to worry about our luggages. They must have been going round and round in the conveyor belt, and hopefully, they are still intact.
I checked the baggage reclaim belt nos. on the TV, but our flight wasn't there anymore! We panicked for a while before we finally saw our poor luggages chucked one side at the 'Lost & Found' baggage counter. We picked them up, and decided to feed our hungry stomachs after such an early dinner in KL. However, we were destined to starve as the eateries in Terminal 1 were undergoing renovation; and we finally dropped our luggage at home and dashed downstairs for food!

The activitiful Junior!
It is unusual that I am blogging at this time of the day, but it isn't when I ain't at work due to being badly 'burnt' last night..
I had dinner with mummy, uncle and auntie at the coffeeshop downstairs before rushing up to catch the final episodes of 'The Little Nyonya'. I was too engrossed with the tragedies on display in the 2hr screening, until I forgot to take my medication for heartburn. Actually I wish I didn't have to consume any medication, coz drugs are never good for an unborn.
So much for my stubborn-ness when I finally got my punishment, in the wee hours of the night. I was tossing and turning the minute I laid myself on bed. Thinking that some relaxing music would help, I played one of my 'Relaxation music for Mummies' CD and slowly I dozed off into slumberland.. God knows at what time, I was harshly woken up with a strong gush of heartburn jumping onto me! All the stomach acids were just waiting to spurt out from my chest to my mouth!! It felt horrible, and sitting up straight with 2 pillows resting my back didn't help a single bit!
I decided to force myself out of bed and swallow down my heartburn pill. But you know what, even drinking water is painful coz I am just opposing the force of the stomach acids. I rested myself back onto my bed again, and looking at the clock, it was already 5am! However, Junior was awake by all my moving around, and it was her turn to give Mama R hell!!
I just had to tape down what she was doing inside me, as evidence in case she turns out to be a big denial.. But bear with me, the dim background as it was taken at 5am in the morning.

Time Not Enough!!
After a huge struggle within myself, considering the possible effects and danger it may impose on my baby; I finally made up my mind to travel for one last time before the arrival of Junior.
Well, it's not like my current condition will allow me to be on long-haul flights. So, the potential destinations of travel would be HONG KONG - 4hrs, BANGKOK - 2hrs, KL - 1hr. To pick one out of these places should be as easy as a piece of cake.. Of course it's Bangkok, cheap and good! Yeah, I did enjoyed my last trip to Bangkok, and swore that I will go back anytime soon.
Mummy would love Bangkok as much as I do, I can guarantee that. However, luck wasn't with us and the protest outbreak at the Bangkok Airport caused us to drop the idea of flying there. Darn! KL sound pretty attractive and safer than Hong Kong when cases of bird flu are still spreading there. Hence, we booked ourselves onto a flight to KL on the last day of 2008.
It was mummy's first time on a plane, and she was excited most definitely.. but then, shortly after, it was discomfort that took over her excitement. Maybe it was the air pressure up into the sky that made her giddy and a little nauseous, or maybe it was her non-stop fidgety looking out of the window that caused it. Luckily, the flight took less than an hour to land in KL.
Auntie Lucy and her husband were already waiting for us at KLIA airport, and boy, they were impatient enough waiting 1 hr for us! My auntie was all dolled up, ready to party away the last day of 2008, and we were dragged along with it. The place my auntie brought us was not a big pub, and people were smoking everywhere! It was a night of 2nd-hand smoke for me and Junior, and by the end of the night, my eyes were almost thin as a line..
I had prepped mummy of the massive shopping that is bound to take place, but then it end out to be a disappointment. Lots of time were spent in my auntie's house, waiting for everyone to get ready. My cousins - 3 of them, my auntie, me and my mum took turns to shower. That alone already took a long, long time. Plus my auntie's house was not very near any of the shopping malls, and car rides were all 40 mins and more.
First day shopping at Sungei Wang & BB Plaza - 2 pairs of shoes for myself, and 1 pair for mummy. Mani & pedicure done, and mummy bought what she came to KL for, 2 belts and 6 shimmer eyeshadow colours. Being a nice cousin from the faraway SG, I paid for 2 pairs of shoes which my twin cousins took a fancy to. All these done with my auntie's husband and cousin Lawrence tagging along.
Told my auntie that I need to get my makeup supplies from Isetan @KLCC, and also to take this chance to show mummy this mega, mega mall. She got her hubby to drive us there on the 3rd day, coz she doesn't know the way there. Blimey, she drives in KL doesn't she?!!
Grabbed about RM300+ worth of makeup and skincare essentials, and also some baby rompers for Junior and Joelle at Isetan. Auntie Lucy insisted on buying those for the baby girls, so I let her be. It felt so terrible when I didn't get a chance to step foot into my 3 of my fave shops in KLCC - Topshop, Mango and Zara!! And Mango was having an 'Up to 70% off' sale!! All because of a man tagging along and auntie claimed we have no time, as they were planning to go to the pub again at night.
Not wanting to be a victim of 2nd-hand smoke, I declined their offer to go and stayed at home with my 2 cousins. Me, the eldest girl with the two 14yr-olds, watched TV, ate doughnuts and jelly while chatting the night away til the adults got back reeking of alcohol! Eeeeeeeeeee..
Last day was spent rather fruitfully, at the market place near my auntie's house, the nearby neighbourhood mall and lastly, dinner at the restaurant. We bought all the cookies and delicatseen, and shopped a last round at Jusco. Still, time was not enough!!
My auntie decided to get her hubby to send us to the airport, and the journey took like an hour! Really long a journey, and the ridiculous part, the whole family didn't send us off; they basically 'dropped' us off at the pickup and drop-off point.
Can't imagine my auntie telling us that they have never been inside KLIA Airport, and yet she didn't want to get her husband to park the car and come in for a while. Sighzzz..
Anyway, took pictures before we left on our flight and I was estatic when I saw Harrods inside the transit hall. Still can't get over the agony of missing out on the Harrods shop in London..
There is an interesting part of our arrival back to Changi Airport, which shall be told in my next post due to TIME NOT ENOUGH now!! Hahahaha..

Hahahaha..
